About Me

Stacy (Gibson) Mora, M.A., LPC, EMDR-Certified

Hello! I am Stacy and have almost 20 years of counseling experience to people of all ages across the lifespan. I have worked with a variety of people, with different circumstances and needs, in a variety of settings, including community mental health and school settings.

I am certified in a highly effective treatment called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which means I have undergone hours of rigorous training, supervision, and actively dedicate time each year to learn, refine, and expand on my skills in this treatment modality.

I am also trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which specializes in developing, strengthening, and/or healing the bond between the parent/guardian and their young child. This type of treatment also teaches parents how to manage unwanted behavior and communication issues.

I am actively accepting clients for individual therapy, parent coaching, and trauma treatment residing in Arizona or Virginia. I look forward to hearing from you! You can get in touch with me by using the convenient online form here, or by phone or email, found at the bottom of each page.

Education and Background

I grew up and lived most of my life in a small town in northeast Tennessee. I attended Radford University in Radford, Virginia and in 2003, received my B.S. in Psychology. I continued my education by earning a M.A. in Counseling from East Tennessee State University in 2007, followed by a License in Professional Counseling from the state of Virginia by 2014. Most of my extensive training and experience was while I was working in Virginia. In 2020 I made the brave decision to move to Arizona, where I currently practice counseling. I can provide counseling to clients located in Virginia or Arizona.

Self-care is a crucial part of living a healthy, happy life. Exercising is one of my primary ways to practice self-care and relieve stress. Whether it’s weightlifting or doing cardio fitness in the gym, or out in nature exploring the world around me, I feel so much better physically, mentally and emotionally when I am done.

Sometimes you have to let the sun set on a hard day and deal with tomorrow when it comes.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the only time we have control over – “now”. Grounding oneself in nature is a great way to reset, practice Mindfulness, and let go of stress. Hiking to points of interest, like breathtaking views, waterfalls, creeks, or other bodies of water, are my favorite.
